One-on-One Virtual Sessions
Think you need to meet with a trainer in person to learn about how to change your dog’s behavior? Think again! While we always enjoy the opportunity to meet people’s dogs, there are lots of behavior challenges that are totally feasible to address virtually, since they aren’t related to hands-on teaching of specific verbal cues. These include general puppy raising practices, setting in a newly adopted dog for success, housetraining, confinement training, laying the foundation for optimal learning and skills, as well as all the more complex behavior challenges. And for a good number of these, online is actually a superior option.
Many people find they actually absorb more useful information in a virtual session, and the convenience also means more flexibility with meeting times and learning from the comfort of your couch!
Virtual sessions are highly recommended as a precursor to in-person sessions for all kinds of behaviors, and especially for timid/fearful dogs or those with behavior challenges. They are also an ideal route for setting the stage for success with a newly adopted (or soon to arrive!) dog, or a newly arrived (or soon to arrive!) puppy. For specific details about our Puppy Primer Virtual Session, see below.

One-on-One In-Person Sessions
Looking for some guidance with your pup that will be best served by some hands-on help? We offer one on one in person sessions, either at your home or out in the world. Many behavior questions are too complex to address in a class, or the class schedule doesn’t mesh well with yours. Some dog families prefer personalized attention and a plan designed specifically for their situation, or have a physical situation that needs a set of experienced eyes. Teaching basic cues is often ideal for in-person sessions. We often follow up virtual Foundations First sessions with in person support, especially for those pups with behavior challenges such as reactivity to other dogs, at one of our ideal meeting places in Victor, Idaho.
In person One-on-One Sessions are $90 per hour; sessions are generally 1 to 1 ½ hours. An additional Travel Time/Fuel Fee is added to the first hour ($10-$50) depending on your location.
Contact Barbara at 307-690-7744 or Krissi at 307-739-9185 to discuss your pup and make a plan. Initial phone consults are free.

Puppy Socialization Outings
One of the biggest behavioral health programs for puppies is appropriate socialization. Early, appropriate socialization (before pup is 14 weeks old) can help puppies develop into well-adjusted dogs that aren’t overwhelmed or fearful when faced with new experiences as adult dogs. A dog’s early life experience can reduce the stress of new environments or novel situations when they reach adulthood, and helps develop the capacity to more easily cope with unique situations that may arise during a dog’s lifetime. The prime time for early socialization is brief, from birth to 14 weeks of age. If time is flying past and your puppy’s socialization has stalled because there is so much to be done when raising a puppy, we’re here to help! We’ll pick up your pup and take your puppy around Jackson Hole to experience all this world has to offer in a manner that will be confidence building, and of course we’ll be working on puppy manners at the same time.
Our Puppy Outings Package is two sessions per week (puppy socialization plus exercise) for 3 weeks. We meet at the end of each week for a 30-minute owner’s lesson. Hourly fee ($90) applies plus driving fees (additional $120 to $360, depending on where you live in Jackson Hole or Teton Valley).

Puppy Preschool Class
For puppies 10-20 weeks old. There are many important lessons to be setting up our little canine friends to learn at this tender age; things that are time sensitive and much easier to accomplish when puppies are still itty bitty.
Puppy preschool focuses on teaching puppy parents about best puppy raising practices: how to teach all encompassing skills that make daily life so much more enjoyable, as well as how to help their wee ones to become as confident and comfortable as possible with what life is likely to throw their way in the coming years. Both of these set the stage for a successful life as a canine companion. Topics include puppy raising priorities; what management is, how to use it, and the most useful management tools; housetraining; confinement training; what good socializing is all about; addressing puppy biting, and more. This class only touches on laying foundations for cued behaviors like sit. Instead, puppy preschool focuses on giving puppies the opportunity to learn about all kinds of new things (including interacting with other puppies) in way that builds confidence.
